RUWireless and RUWired provide the Rutgers University community with wireless and wired network access in several areas of the New Brunswick/Piscataway campus. All Rutgers University students, staff, and faculty, as well as sponsored guests, are able to use the RUWireless and RUWired systems in the many community spaces and departmental buildings where it is available. Separate registration is not required, only a
valid NetID and password are needed for access.
Where is it available?
RUWireless is available in all student centers, most larger libraries, many dining halls, and some academic and administrative buildings across the New Brunswick/Piscataway campus. RUWired is currently available in the Busch Campus Center and Rutgers Student Center. To see if a specific area has coverage, view our
Coverage Areas page. Areas with RUWireless and RUWired coverage can also be identified by the presence of the RUWireless and RUWired signs shown at the right. As new areas are added the
Coverage Areas page will be updated, so check back periodically.
How do I connect?
To connect to RUWireless, a user's computer needs an 802.11b , 802.11g or 802.11a (Wi-Fi) wireless network adapter. For RUWired, the computer needs an Ethernet adapter (common wide telephone-like jack). The computer also needs a web browser to log into the network. How do I print?
Users of RUWireless and RUWired are able to print to campus computer labs. This process requires a one-time software installation. Once installed, the user can print directly to any
* campus lab and pick up the printed document using the standard procedure of swiping his or her ID card at the print release station. Guests are not permitted to print from RUWireless/RUWired.
Instructions for:
Windows (2000/XP/Vista 32-bit) or
Macintosh (10.3-10.5).
* Printing is available to any general-access computing lab operated by Campus Computing Facilities. Other departmental labs otherwise not operated by CCF are not a supported destination for printouts.
